This holiday season, Alsons Dev tapped into the generosity of its employees and held an activity dubbed as the “Alsons Dev Jolli-Christmas” for the kids of Love the Children Foundation (LTCF), an orphanage based in Davao City.

A gift drive was organized as early as November, which gave employees a chance to become manitos and manitas. Each child was allowed to make two wishes, but so enthusiastic were the employees about giving gifts that the coordinators of Love the Children Foundation were asked to submit an additional list of the kids’ needs.
On November 27, 2017, the kids of Love the Children Foundation were invited to the Alsons Dev field office, where they serenaded the employees with Christmas carols. In turn, the employees treated the kids to Disney song performances and distributed loot bags. Afterwards, the kids were toured around the field office, giving them an opportunity to learn about the different construction equipment used and see the ongoing works onsite.
“Malaki yung impact na nangyari sa [mga] bata. Dati pag tanungin mo sila, gusto nila lahat [maging] sundalo o teacher. After the exposure, may gusto na maging engineer,” said Ms. Kristine N. Comendador, RSW, Center Director of Love the Children Foundation.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Jolli-Christmas without… Jollibee! The day ended with a party at Jollibee, which featured games, art activities, a photo booth, gift-giving, and—most exciting of all for the kids—a presentation by all of the Jollibee mascots. After the activity, Alsons Dev employees received heartfelt thank you cards from the children.

“Spending time with the kids from Love the Children Foundation really warms our hearts. I think I speak for our employees when I say we are thankful for the opportunity to get to know these kids and for the privilege to be able to share our blessings with them. We hope to have more opportunities for meaningful moments with them in the future,” says Eric de la Costa, Vice President and General Manager of Alsons Dev.
